Sweet and Sour Sauce

This is really an easy to prepare sauce that is ideal for dips or even poured on fried meat or seafood. You are only limited by your imagination!

1 cup water

1/4 cup tomato sauce

3 tablespoons vinegar

4 tablespoons brown sugar firmly packed (you can add more if you want it to be on the sweet side)

2 heaping tablespoons cornstarch

1/4 cup pineapple juice

In a saucepan, dissolve cornstarch in pineapple juice.

Add the remaining ingredients and stir until well-mixed.

Continuously stir while cooking over medium heat. Once the sauce reaches boiling point, lower the heat and let simmer for 5 minutes.

Recommended servings:

a) Serve on its own as a dipping sauce for fried foods.

b) Fry desired meat or seafood. Sauté sliced carrots, pineapple tidbits, onions and celery.  Add sauce. Cook for another 2 minutes and immediately pour on fried meat or seafood. Best served with steamed rice.
